ISLAND TOURS
Are you here to see Roatan ?
Captain Van’s Rentals offers island tours and excursions to suit you and your group’s needs. We are totally flexible in regards to where you can go, and what you can see. For those not interested in the typical experience at a cruise ship dock where finding a driver with a roadworthy vehicle, as well as one that knows Roatan, is a troublesome, frustrating task; requesting a Captain Van’s Island Tour is an ideal, relaxing way to see and enjoy our island’s tropical amenities. Our drivers all speak English and they are there to ensure your trip is a memorable one. We offer our tours in cars for up to 4 people, and minivans for up to 6 persons, as well as larger 14 passenger vans and even larger buses able to transport larger groups.
Here is an example of our excursions that are very popular. Please email us to custom design your Roatan Island Tour to suit your group’s needs.
West Bay Beach Day
$30 per person*.
a) Transportation to/from the dock in Coxen Hole (the Port of Roatan). We pick up all our guests as soon as they allow you off the ship, and we can return you to the ship one hour prior to departure. Optional times for leaving the beach are available, at an additional cost per person. *NOTE: Customers arriving at Carnival’s Mahogany Bay pay an additional $6 pp.
b) Access to West Bay beach...is free...Anyone can go to the beach. West Bay beach is the most beautiful beach on the island. All down the beach there are resorts and lots of condos. The sand is wonderful, the water terrific and the snorkeling is excellent. However, there are NO PUBLIC FACILITIES (no chairs, no restrooms, no shade, nada). I have arranged a package deal with a resort on the beach so that this package includes access to their restrooms, showers, and your own reserved lounge chair. They have a restaurant/beach bar on site, as well as one of the best dive facilities...hence lots of snorkel gear for those wishing to rent. In addition, they also have kayaks for an extra cost per hour... So, it makes for a great day! Note: ask for the lower rate for toddlers and young children.
Canopy Tour & West Bay Beach Day:
$79 per person (min. 7 persons).
a) Transportation to/from the dock (see above).
b) West Bay beach resort access admission (see above).
c) Prepaid admission to the best canopy tour on the island. On Roatan, zip lines are popular because of the excellent terrain, and the spectacular views. This is for all ages…Just ask my mother...Hi Mom!
West End Village Tour:
1-2 people, $75 per person*; 3-5 people, $65 per person*; 6-11 people, $45 per person*.
This tour takes you to the popular nearby village of West End and its surrounding attractions. West End is a tiny seaside community, and is known for its quaint Caribbean feel, as well as its extensive selection of beach bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. *NOTE: Customers arriving at Carnival’s Mahogany Bay pay an additional $6 pp.
a) Our first stop is Carambola Gardens, where you get to experience the flora and fauna of the island. It starts off with a short Garden walk, and after trying some local fruits, the group can head out on an 25 minute optional mountain walk, ending with a spectacular view. Along the way, your Garden’s guide will show you the plants and fruits specific to Roatan. Total Time: 1-2 hours max.
b) Roatan Museum at Anthony’s Key Resort. Honoring the History & Culture of Roatán and the Bay Islands. Combine ancient civilizations, Carib Indians, African slaves, notorious swashbuckling pirates, English and Spanish conquests, sunken treasures, and a tradition of living off the sea passed down from countless generations, and the result is Roatán. Total time: 30-60 mins.
c) Mayak Chocolates. Creating and selling Handcrafted chocolates from the cocoa seed to the chocolate bar. They make the whole process with 100% Honduran cacao. Promoting culture and a chocolate lover’s dream. 30-60 mins. (All activities/dining/drinking are extra).
Total Tour time: 4 hours maximum.Note: ask for the lower rate for toddlers and young children.

TRANSPORTATION ONLY

We offer transportation from the airport, cruise ship docks, ferry and resorts to get you where you need to go. While we cannot compete with roadside, typical island taxis, we do offer a more personal service. When arriving on Roatan at the airport, clients often prefer to stop on the way to their accommodations, and pickup some groceries and beverages. Resorts do not offer this option with their airport shuttle services. When arriving via cruise ship, guests sometimes need transportation to a dive shop or to a village or beach; where they know they have a return ride waiting for them when they are ready to go back to the ship. Captain Van’s drivers will be there waiting for you, to take you to where you need to go. We offer transportation in cars for up to 4 people, and minivans for up to 6 persons, as well as larger 14 passenger vans and even larger buses able to transport larger groups. Just send us an inquiry and tell us the details in regards to where you need to go, and we will give you a quote.
